Playing at the frontier
of AI-native games
AI is becoming the new front door to the internet — and AI chat is only the beginning. Playful Science explores what games become when they are born inside AI platforms like ChatGPT and Claude — not ported to them.
About Playful Science
Playful Science explores the future of games on AI-native platforms. We are here to experiment at the forefront of a brand-new and increasingly widespread medium — LLMs and Chat have lit up the world’s imagination, and we’ve barely scratched the surface of what else is possible.
Our mission
We believe AI will become the new front door to the internet — the way people across the world search, learn, connect, and play. AI chat is only the beginning. Our mission is to be a world leader in exploring the frontier of what games can be in that world: discovering the formats, the feelings, and the ways we can play through interactions that are new and exciting to humanity.
Player-first, AI-native
Everything starts with the player, never the model. The AI is what makes a game feel magical — it meets people through natural language — but the experience is always built for the human on the other side.
Generative & emergent
Games that are truly special through unique generative and novel experiences. Every session is authored in the moment and never quite the same twice.
Frontier R&D
This is uncharted territory. We prototype relentlessly, experiment with players in the open, and treat the open questions as the point.
Open & borderless
If you can talk to AI, you can play. We build for the next billion players reaching the internet through AI, in any language.
What we believe
Four convictions that point us at the frontier — and keep us building toward it.
AI is the new front door to the internet.
AI is becoming how people search, shop, learn, and connect — and AI chat is only the beginning. The AI is the platform, and platforms are where new kinds of games are born.
The next billion players will ask an AI, not download an app.
No store page, no install, no hardware. If you can talk to an AI, you can play. That unlocks games for people the old industry never reached.
AI-native games are invented, not ported.
Bolting an AI onto an old genre misses it entirely. We start from what these platforms make newly possible, exciting, and worthwhile.
Someone will lead this frontier. We intend to be them.
The medium is net new and the map is mostly unexplored. We are here to chart it — openly, playfully, and faster than anyone else.
Built for AI-native platforms
These are the emerging platforms where the next era of play begins. We meet players where they already are — inside the AI.
ChatGPT
Hundreds of millions of people already open an AI before a browser. We explore games that live natively inside it — and across the apps and agents growing around it.
Claude
Long context, strong reasoning, and tool use make Claude a remarkable partner in play and a co-author, and quickly growing in adoption for those who want to accomplish more.
What comes next
Voice, agents, multimodal worlds, on-device models, AI-native operating systems. The interface keeps moving — we build to skate toward where the puck is going.
Games from the lab
The first titles we’re bringing to AI-native platforms. Here’s an early look.
Cupid
An interactive rom-com you play inside Claude. Step in as a divine matchmaker and guide two strangers through a first date in New York — each one driven by their own astrology, profession, and hopes, with a celestial narrator setting every scene.
Wordspace
It's like Wordle — but in space. A word puzzle that takes the daily letter-guessing ritual and launches it into the cosmos.
